The Boss 302 was initally created to outperform Camaro in Trans-Am races, the Boss 302 came close in '69, but finally did win the Trans-Am Championship in 1970. Yet Smokey Yunick's car never raced in the series and was prepped to race in NASCAR, but only entered one race in Talladega. The notoriety of Smokey Yunick's name in racing and painted in his trademark colours of gold and black made this Ford Boss 302 Mustang popular in its own right. The Scalextric slot car was made exclusively for distribution in the United States.The model slot car shows the famous Yunick race car as restored and raced today in the SVRA series in the USA. Although the original 1969 race cars upper was all gold paint the Scalextric version correctly reflects the current livery of the car as raced today.Some of the features include working head and tail lights, easy change pick ups, and magnatraction. This car is can be converted to run on the Scalextric Digital system using the C7006 Digital Retro-fit(Saloon) kit. Installation of the retro-fit chip does require some soldering.
